Sunflowers in my garden

Picture
5/7/2020. This is about week 3. First week in the ground. I was worried when I transplanted, Sunlight and heat might kill my plants. So far so good. We are growing Mammoth Sunflower seeds. Supposed to get up to 9-12 feet tall! If I am growing something- I am going to go all out!

5/20/2020. Sunflower went to work this week! It grew a lot! I am sitting here looking at the pictures from the past 2 weeks. I can't believe it! I am taking pictures of the same plants each week.

This is a test run!

6/3/2020. I saw my neighbor had sunflowers, and they are already over 8ft tall! They must've started early... My sunflowers look healthy and that's all it matters!
Picture
6/10/2020. Sunflower plants are strong! They did not blow away 30 mph wind!
Picture
6/17/2020. I love watching Sunflowers glow. They follow the Sun. I told one of my students that Sunflower follows the sun. She was so amazed by that. I am blessed to have a chance to see these plants grow every day!

6/24/2020. Some Sunflowers are about 6-7 ft tall already! Started to show buds! When I harvest sunflower seeds, I want to make some sunflower oil!

7/1/2020. "I'm coming out" I can see them singing Diana Ross song as they grow! Almost there!! This one is at least 7ft tall!

With my volunteers, I harvested 13 Gallon Tote full of Mammoth Sunflower seeds! It took us all morning to harvest them all! But it was fun! Kids were excited to be around the garden, experiencing farm life this morning!

The journey with my sunflower field was so amazing this summer! Believe it or not, the power of sunflowers is real! They encourage me to stay strong in this heat and work in my garden. Just by looking at these tall, strong and beautiful sunflowers was well worth my hard work!

Next summer, I might grow sunflowers along the fence line and make Sunflower Fence! I bet it will look so pretty from the streets! I hope that may give other people some positive vibe!
