Potatoes & Garlic

8/29/2020

Get ready for fall & winter gardening! My family helped me plant potatoes & garlic today. Super poof dirt! If the dust devil comes through my garden, the whole thing is gonna be wiped out!! It was very windy today, but we did it. Here's how we prepped this field. By the way, this area is called "The Roots~ Out from under"

We first called the tractor guy about a month ago to flatten out the hills from the previous season. I let this area rested for the whole year! Last year, we have spread topsoil and horse manure and chicken manure.
Today, I cleaned out the goat pen and got a lot of goat manure, then I spread the entire area with it. After that, my husband tilled the entire area with a rototiller. Then we made hills like the picture below and installed 1/4" drip irrigation.
After that, we hand dug about 4~6" and planted potatoes and garlic. At the end of each row, I planted Marigold.
Tested the irrigation, make sure it's working, set the timer, and done! Let the journey begin!
