This area is very similar to the Sacrificial Land, or Area 71 plots. I am growing food for livestock! I planted Alfalfa, clovers, and wildflower seeds in this area on 9/17/2020. My goats and chickens will love me forever!! I chose these plants for the same reasons as the Sacrificial Land plot. They are soil fixers. It's hard to grow anything with just the poof dirt itself! I am going to start from here!
Crimson Clover - Trifolium incarnatum. Cover Crop. Non-GMO. Annual. Heirloom crimson clover seeds are an ideal annual garden companion and cover crop for plants and soils deficient in Nitrogen. Non-GMO crimson clover seeds produce a clean and tidy, low-growing 6-12" tall heirloom cover crop traditionally intercropped through the garden to increase Nitrogen in the soil, while also increasing soil tilth and weed suppression. Clover is one of the most effective weed suppressants, able to be tilled back into the soil as a "green manure" or kept for its crimson red allium-like blooms
Alfalfa- Medicago sativa. Annual. Non-GMO. Cover Crop. Also known as "lucerne", non-GMO alfalfa is a year-round cover crop, widely grown for its Nitrogen-replenishing benefits and fertile, all-natural springtime "green compost" mulch. An ancient old-world foraging heirloom, open-pollinated alfalfa seeds are in a renaissance as an essential annual cover crop, heirloom sprouting seed, and non-GMO microgreens variety. Alfalfa seeds are open-pollinated heirlooms quick to mature as a 24-36" tall foraging cover crop often grown, harvested, and baled just like wheat.
The National Wildlife Federation (NWF), America's largest wildlife conservation and education organization, is pleased that Kozue Maye at Poof Dirt Farms in Pahrump, NV has successfully created a certified Wildlife Habitat through its garden for "Wildlife" movement.
