Troublemakers!!

Here is the page for all of my troublemakers. More plants, more problems for beginners! I am going to capture troublemakers, and record my trials!

Beans...

Picture
What's wrong with this picture? I don't know. According to my research, these plants are way too tight with each other and they are fighting for nutrients. Or maybe there is not enough nutrients in the soil. Time to give them a hair cut and good food! (5/13/2020)

This is after their haircut. I thinned out these soy bean plants. Now they are about 4-5 inches apart. Also gave some worm castings. We'll see if that will change. Another thing that I can think of is too much direct sunlight. I don't want  to plant them on the ground, because rabbits and groundhogs love beans. It will destroy them quicker than sunlight! If I install some shading cloths over, it will take off with the wind... Tough decisions!

5/20/2020. Hmmmmmm.... It seems like it's not doing any better... It needs a little more help! My husband thinks they are lack of nutrients, so he mixed special soil for me. Amendment mix: Happy Frog Potting Soil, Peat Moss, Worm Castings, Down to Earth Bone Meal, Down to Earth Vegan Mix. I applied a handful of this mix for each plant, and watered each plant. We'll see what happens!

5/27/2020. Well, people... I started to wonder green beans don't like much heat nor sunlight... I applied amendment, changed the irrigation system so they get more water... not helping. The only thing I can think of is direct sunlight. I have few Green Beans in the pot inside the greenhouse, where they get less direct sunlight, but everything else is the same, but they are not doing so well. I am not sure what else I can do... I need to do more research...

6/8/2020. Found out that Beans and peas do not tolerate Desert heat very well. So I decided to remove all the dead ones and try it again later when it gets cooler.
